"I became interested in
vitamin C and cancer in 1971 and began working with Ewan Cameron, M.B., Ch.B.,
chief surgeon at Vale of Leven Hospital in Scotland. Cameron gave 10 grams of
vitamin C a day to patients with untreatable, terminal cancer.
These patients were then compared by Cameron and me to
patients with the same kind of cancer at the same terminal stage who were
being treated in the same hospital but by other doctors--doctors who didn't
give vitamin C, but instead just gave conventional treatments. Cameron's
terminal cancer patients lived far longer compared to the ones who didn't get
10 grams a day of vitamin C. The other patients lived an average of six
months after they were pronounced terminal, while Cameron's patients lived an
average of about six years. " -- Linus Pauling
Interview by Peter Chowka 1996
"If you are at risk of heart
disease, or if there is a history of heart disease in your family, if your father
or other members of the family died of a heart attack or stroke or whatever, or if
you have a mild heart attack yourself then you had better be taking vitamin C and
Lysine." Linus Pauling Interview 1994
"It is fortunate that
vitamin C is not a drug it is an orthomolecular substance, normally present in
the human body and required for life, and it has extremely low toxicity. You do not
need to have a physician's prescription or the approval of the medical
establishment to use it in the best way to improve your health and to prevent heart
disease. Your knowledge may even be greater and your judgment better than
theirs." Linus Pauling, How to Live Longer and Feel Better,
1986
"Now I've got to the point where I think we can get almost
complete control of cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes. The proper
use of vitamin C and lysine can can prevent cardiovascular disease and even cure
it." Linus Pauling, 1994
